First Steps in Music

For babies 12-24 months

First Steps in Music introduces your baby to the world of sound and song. We bounce our babies, tickle them, count their fingers and their toes, move with them, play instruments with them, give them scarves for peek-a-boo time, and show them animal puppets. Finally, we finish off the class with recorder music and a soothing lullaby.

These classes are as much for the caregivers as for the children. Even if you don't have any musical background, you'll learn how to play simple musical games and sing to your little one. All First Steps in Music classes are separated into small age-specific groups, so that children can progress along with their peers.

Offered at Bloor West on Saturdays at 11:00.

Little Musicians

For children 2-3 years old

Little Musicians helps older babies and toddlers develop their musical skills and learn to express themselves in song. Caregivers are still present, but now children are ready to explore the world on their own with boundless curiosity and energy. We follow the same format as in First Steps in Music, but now we spend more time with creative movement, instrument playing, and interactive songs. Children are old enough that they might want to do the singing as they rock their teddy bears to sleep.

Offered at Bloor West on Saturdays at 9:30.

Stories and Songs

For children 3-4 years old

Stories and Songs lets older children explore the world of music and develop their own musical voices, while having great fun. Children attend classes on their own, although caregivers may attend at a child's request or at the request of the teacher. We nurture their playful nature with a variety of songs, stories, and music games, and introduce them to new percussive and melodic instruments. They also learn the concepts of beat and rhythm informally, putting them on the right path to make music an enriching part of their lives.

Offered at Bloor West on Saturdays at 10:15.
